Analog synthesizer Modifications, PPG Wave 2.3 lithium battery

Although the PPG use a rechargeable NiCad battery, due to battery construction, it doesn't have a leakage problem like the Polysix.
But it's still a better solution to use a lithium battery since this will prevent you from loosing your patches if the synth is not used for a while.

  • Install a 3V lithium battery instead if the NiCad. Since the Wave has several static RAM chips to be backed up, it's best to go for a large lithium cell that will fit the original holes in the PCB.
  • In order to prevent charging of the new battery R1 must be replaced with a diode as shown on the drawing. The new diode is mounted in the opposite direction of D2 next to it.
